From southern China. A splendid screener with upright growth and attractive nodding tips to the culms. Dense privacy, wind and dust screen. THE most popular screening plant because it does the job quickly, effectively & with no fuss.
Characteristics
Grows 6-8 m high, straight and graceful.
Fast growing. Forms a clump to 1.5m in a few years. Responds well to an annual trimming to height if necessary in late winter.
Hardy, it can be grown next to ponds or places where other bamboo species would become waterlogged. Temperatures down to -9C.
***In optimum, moist conditions w good soil, Gracilis can grow to 10 meters***
