Walking Stick
Endemic to southwest Sichuan and northeast Yunnan, China, Walking Stick Bamboo has been used for walking sticks since the Han dynasty. Although it has been utilised for some 1200 years, it somehow escaped scientific description until 1980.


Characteristics
Culms height can vary greatly, depending on situation. Can grow from 2m up to nearly 6m in height and 1–3 cm in diameter. We have only witnessed growth here on the mid north coast up to 3m.
Large, greatly swollen disk-like nodes, preferred for use as walking sticks all over China.
Foliage is small & delicate, drooping & elegant.
Sought after for its delicious shoots.
Can handle cold winters down to -20c.
